Film Screening: Downstream: The Effects of Parental Incarceration

March 20 @ 6:30 pm

Downstream is a one hour documentary film featuring the compelling stories of those left behind when a parent goes to prison. Vermont children and caregivers who have received services from the Resilience Beyond Incarceration (RBI) program at the Lamoille Restorative Center share their experiences – life circumstances that reveal the complex and emotional terrain they have to navigate in the wake of their parent’s incarceration.

The film includes the voices of a number of Vermonters who work in related fields and who understand the challenges these children and families face. Among those who share their perspectives, in addition to RBI staff, are Lamoille County residents Karen Shea, DCF Deputy Commissioner, and Cambridge Elementary School Counselor, Kathy Ferguson.

A panel discussion will follow the film.
