Early Intervention

The Early Intervention program is Vermont’s program designed to provide services under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA): Part C – Early Intervention for infants and toddlers. Early Intervention provides a broad array of services to children with special needs, birth through three years of age, and their families.

Early Intervention is a collaborative effort of early intervention agencies, which provide services to families with children who have a delay, or a high probability of delay, in their development or growth. Evaluation and assessment of a child's health, vision, nutrition, motor and movement development, play, communication and thinking skills can be arranged.

Children who have a diagnosis that puts them at risk for developmental delay or who have an observable delay may be eligible to receive the following services: speech and language therapy, physical or occupational therapy, educational activities, assistive technology, respite for family, parent training, counseling and service coordination.
