Nearly 80 people attended a retirement celebration at the Lamoille Family Center for Dave Connor on October 20^th.  Dave was recognized for his eighteen years of service to the Lamoille Family Center, the region and the state. 

Those in attendance reflected on Dave’s contributions to many community accomplishments including creation of the Community Justice Project, creation of the Hardwick Area Patch office, and formation of the Lamoille Valley Hunger Coalition.  Dave has inspired staff and colleagues through his steadfast determination to fight for what he believes in, passion for advocating for the rights of others, and unwavering commitment to children and families. 

Those who know Dave, are never surprised when he takes the time to truly hear how you are doing, ask about your children, offer his help, and genuinely listen.  In that spirit, thanks to an anonymous donor, the Family Center has established the Dave Connor Fund.  This fund will expand the emergency support that is currently available through the Family Center for families in crisis.  Families facing overwhelming obstacles and financial hardship will have increased access to resources including financial support, scholarships, diapers, and children’s clothing.  Contributions to this fund can be sent to the Family Center at 480 Cadys Falls Road Morrisville, Vermont 05661 or by clicking here.

For thirty-five years the Lamoille Family Center has encouraged, educated and celebrated families, serving approximately 1,600 parents, caregivers, children and youth annually.  As one of fifteen Parent Child Centers across the state, the Family Center maintains core parent child center services – home visiting, parenting education, playgroups, resource and referral, emergency assistance, early care and education services, site based drop-in services and community development – while adjusting and expanding services in response to new community and family needs.  The Lamoille Family Center is a United Way Community Partner.  For more information, please call 888-5229.
