The Lamoille Family Center is hosting a training on Saturday April 16th with Jeanine Fitzgerald, a nationally recognized trainer on child and family issues. If you are a parent, caregiver, educator, or other professional working with children under age twelve, you will not want to miss this training opportunity!  Join us from 9AM – Noon for, What’s Your Problem Anyway? Session description - Much of children’s aggressive or hurtful behaviors derive not from an excess of meanness or hostility but from a lack of skills in solving problems nonviolently. The skills of social problem solving can be learned so that win-lose power struggles are minimized and when power struggles do surface, the intensity is managed effectively. In the afternoon, from 1-4PM, Jeanine will Explore Positive Guidance. Session description - Positive guidance focuses on preventing behavioral challenges, teaching children skills that lead to self-regulation, and examining ways to respond to behaviors when they arise. The six levels of the positive guidance model will be explored in this session. The goal of positive discipline is to instill a sense of responsibility in children so they can follow their pathway to success. Jeanine draws upon thirty years of experience as a certified teacher, licensed mental health professional, and mother of three children, to understand the promise of every child, as well as the diversity of their needs. As a certified Human Behavior Specialist, Jeanine specializes in research-based strategies in educational leadership, relationship-building, motivation, preventing risk factors that compromise the fulfillment of a child's full potential and implementing positive interventions in "real world settings." The training sessions will take place at the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center. There is a registration fee of $30.00 for the day, which includes a free children’s book. Lunch is not provided. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited, so please register early. Please click here download the registration form or call 888-5229.  |
