Learning Together/Families Learning Together

The Lamoille Family Center’s Learning Together program offers an alternative to traditional high school for pregnant, parenting and at-risk youth in the Lamoille Valley. A recent Learning Together graduate said it best - "I was not making it in high school. I would not have graduated without the Learning Together program and now I am going off to college in the fall."

Learning Together, is a Vermont Recognized Independent School program for adolescent girls who are pregnant, parenting or are at-risk for becoming pregnant.  Students pursue their high school diploma or GED in a supportive environment geared toward meeting the unique needs of learners with complex challenges and responsibilities.  Services include individual and group instruction, case management, volunteer job placement, and therapeutic counseling. Child care is provided.

Eligibility:  Priority is given to pregnant and parenting teens between the ages of 14 and 18.  Other girls may be accepted based on their fit for the program and available space.

Families Learning Together is a program for young adults ages 18-24 who are pregnant or parenting and no longer enrolled in high school, and committed to earning a GED or an Adult Diploma. The program includes the development of academic and job readiness skills, case management and counseling.

Eligibility: Families Learning Together welcomes parents between the ages of 18 and 24.

A licensed childcare center is available for children of Learning Together and Families Learning Together participants, age six weeks to two years. Click here to learn more about the LFC child care center.

"I thought that I was stupid because I was not good at subjects like math, but here I get tutored and the information is explained to me in a way that I can learn. I don't feel like a dummy here. We can talk about what is bothering us and are given space when we need it. Without Learning Together I would have stopped going to school".
